Sleep is important for your mental and physical well-being. One important aspect of good sleep habits is the part where you stop sleeping – the getting up part. Popular advice is ‘Don’t hit the snooze button’. I confess this is very difficult for me.
Often we can take our brain for granted, not realising the actions we take, or don’t take, can have an impact on the short or long term health of our brain.
I’m realising that ‘Just Do It’ is not always a useful mantra to adopt. I enjoy a good motivational book or one that helps me maximise my time. These books often recommend the ‘no excuses’ approach to daily action. This is not always realistic or helpful.
Waiting until we 'feel' motivated to do something is not always the best way to get things done. Some days being active and dong some exercise is not what I really want to do. I am getting used to making self-care one of my daily timetable priorities, without waiting for it to feel right.
It makes a difference what we do each day, and over time, whether this is looking after or hurting our brain.
