Do you have health goals?

You might know what you don't want to be - but can you put into words what the new you is like?

Could you stand on a stage and play that role now if you needed to? Just for the night. Would you take centre stage?

There have been times when we have had to assume responsibility, step into a role before we were fully ready. Sometimes we needed to play a little, carry ourselves with confidence before we actually 'felt' we had the confidence or the experience to do the role we had. Eventually, we filled the shoes ok but in the beginning, we needed to do a little role playing. We've all done it. New job, new role, new relationship.

All the world's a stage....

People everywhere are playing a role. deciding who they would like to be today. This may be positive or negative. Are they playing a role to hide (covering up that they are hurting or struggling), or are they playing a role by testing out a new opportunity?

Every day we have the opportunity to do the same - To be who we want to be.  It's your life. You foot the bill, you pick up the pieces. You get to decide.  This is your life. It's time to start acting in the image of the health persona that you aiming to become.

Life is not a stage - It's not a dress rehearsal. We aren't going through the motions, waiting for life to begin 'one day' when we have ticked everything off our list and achieved all our goals. Life begins now. This day, this moment is your stage. And your family, your friends are your audiences. What moments are you creating?

Sometimes we think about our health and enjoyment of life in terms of tomorrows. We think 'as soon as I lose 15kgs' or 'as soon as I can walk 15kms' or 'when I have more energy', then I will ......

Instead, we need to start acting as if these things have happened already. We need to start thinking about the person that we want to be, and start acting that way - before we lose the weight, or have the energy or the money or the clothes. We need to not rely on outer things to create inner change. But start thinking out the daily expressions that reflect the actions of the person that we want to be. And start exhibiting those actions now, even though you may not feel like you have arrived at a level of expertise or health yet.

Try this:

  1. With 10 minutes of quiet time, close your eyes.
  2. Imagine your life a year from now.
  3. You have achieved ALL your health goals.
  4. What does your day look like?
  5. How do you feel when you wake up?
  6. What do you do for breakfast? How do you greet your family?
  7. Where do you spend lunch time?
  8. What happens after work?
  9. What do you do in your free time? How active are you? Where do go to relax?
  10. Is it different from today?

You have a healthy lifestyle in mind and a future health vision for yourself.  Rather than wait till you have achieved your goals to start acting like your health vision - start behaving like that person today. All the world's a stage - don't wait. Start today. Be the new you.
